The 22-year old Ballybofey man is part of a ten-man Irish squad that takes part in the tournament in Berck.

Quigley is unbeaten on his last 26 visits to the canvas in a run that stretches back to his defeat by Willie McLaughlin in an Irish senior quarter-final in February 2012.

Since then, Quigley has won the European Under 23, Irish senior and European senior welterweight crowns and is now gunning for his first assault on the World Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan in early October.

Quigley’s world ranking recently improved by two places and he is now joint sixth in the AIBA rankings, with Evhen Khytrov and Bogdan Juratoni, whom he beat at the European Championships, among those ahead of him.

It is a star-studded Iirsh squad that includes Joe Ward, the 2011 European champion, as well as Olympic medalists John Joe Nevin, Paddy Barnes and Michael Conlan. They each move up a weight – Barnes moves up from light-fly to fly, Conlan from fly to bantamweight and Nevin from bantam to lightweight.

Ireland will meet France, Poland and the Ukraine at the tournament as part of their preparations for the World Championships.

The Irish team is managed by Joe Hennigan and they’ll be accompanied by coaches Billy Walsh, Zuar Antia and Eddie Bolger.
