Jason Quigley’s plans for a world title tilt could receive a huge boost with plans believed to be under way to add him to the under card of Katie Taylor’s upcoming New York card.
Taylor is being lined up to become the first female boxer ever to headline at Madison Square Garden in a mega-fight bout against seven division world champion Amanda Serrano in April.
If that bout is confirmed in the coming days by Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn, then Andy Lee, Quigley’s trainer, will push for his fighter to be included on the bill.
GoldenBoy – the Ballybofey man’s boxing stable – has linked up with Matchroom before with Quigley easily defeating Mathias Eklund in London, at the Copperbox Arena back in March 2019.
Lee has stressed the importance of moving Quigley from the west coast of America across to the east side and exposing his boxer to a much wider audience.
“I’ve asked Golden Boy to get Jason to the east coast. He’s an Irish fighter and that’s where he needs to be.”
