DONEGAL County Council is holding a public information event today in the Station House Hotel in Letterkenny about plans to develop an Active Travel Project from the bottom of Convent Road in the town to the entrance to the Ballymacool estate.
Members of the public are being encouraged to come along and to see for themselves the proposals which revolve around plans to develop cycle lanes and new pathways. The proposed works will also have a significant impact on road alignments.
It is proposed to provide new and or upgraded pedestrian facilities on both sides of the road and a new segregated cycling facility on the southern side. The project also envisages the relocation of existing on-road parking at Ballymacool Terrace.
This is something that will be of particular interest to residents there.
Members of the design team for the project will be in attendance to discuss matters. Illustrations and maps will be available for inspection and the public can submit comments.
A council official commented: “The aim of the information event is to inform the public of the preliminary designs and to invite feedback on the proposals.”
The public information meeting will run from 3pm to 7pm.
Further information and submissions relating to this project can be made by email to activetravel@donegalcoco.ie, by post to the Active Travel Section, Road Design, Donegal County Council, Lifford, Co Donegal F93 FK22, or by telephoning 074 91 53900 and requesting to contact a member of the project team.
