DEFECTIVE block campaigners have promised “civil disobedience” at Carndonagh Public Service Centre today.
The protest comes two weeks after a similar event in Lifford which briefly looked like it could spill over into all out occupation of the County House.
The Mica Action Group met with the Department of Housing yesterday and speaking afterwards, veteran campaigner Paddy Diver said homeowners had been left with little choice but to stage a further protest.
He said the assembly, which starts at midday, would be in support of families living in homes that are damp, mouldy, condemned and crumbling.
Mr Diver said Donegal County Council could expect “civil disobedience” including protesters with chains and handcuffs.
“We have to make a stand on this to prevent a tragedy,” he said.
“The government knows all about it, they had a meeting with the Mica Action Group and Donegal County Council yesterday and gave no written commitment that this was going to be sorted this side of Christmas which we think is an absolute disgrace.
“A minister has still never been inside one of these houses,” Mr Diver added.
