SIXTY seven houses impacted by the defective block scandal in Donegal have had work carried out as part of the homeowner scheme.
As of May 4 2023, 67 homes have been accepted for stage three of the scheme and work is ongoing on site – 34 have had work complete while work is ongoing at 33 houses.
An update on the Defective Block Scheme was provided to members at a meeting of the Letterkenny Milford Municipal District on Tuesday.
The report detailed that Donegal County Council has so far paid out a total of €13,039,432.6 in grants.
Around €5,779,887.10 has been paid out in stage one fees, €395,250.00 paid out in ancillary grants and €6,862,763.27 has been paid out for stage payments for construction works at affected home across the county.
However, the report also revealed the Council has paid out €1,532.25 in grants for essential emergency works at affected homes.
In total, around 1,400 applications are being processed by Donegal County Council, with thousands more expected to be submitted in the coming months when the final details of the defective block scheme are confirmed.
As of May 4, 1,242 applications have been submitted to stage one of the scheme which examines the applicants confirmation of eligibility.
Of these applications, 56 per cent (688) are approved or pending approval, while 213 applications are with the applicant.
Around 200 applications are with or expected to go to the Housing Agency, while 141 are currently with Donegal County Council for assessment.
So far, 143 applications have been submitted to stage two of the scheme for grant approval.
Of these applications, 93 have been approved or pending approval, while 21 applications are with the applicant.
A further 29 applications are undecided and with Donegal County Council for assessment.
