INDEPENDENT TD for Donegal, Thomas Pringle, and independent Senator Eileen Flynn have strongly criticised the HSE for failing to provide clear answers regarding the appointment of a new GP for the Ardara community.
With just days remaining until the current GP, Dr. Mirelle Sweeney, leaves her position, the community is still in the dark about what comes next.
Dr. Mirelle Sweeney, who has served the Ardara community for nearly three decades, announced her resignation at the end of May, with her last working day set for August 22nd.
However, despite the urgency of the situation, the HSE has yet to communicate any definitive plans for her replacement, leaving both the community and staff in a state of uncertainty.
Deputy Thomas Pringle expressed his frustration with the lack of response from the HSE.
“The HSE told me about two weeks ago that a response to my questions regarding plans for Dr Sweeney’s successor was on its way. I have still heard nothing from them. This is very bad practice from the HSE, to leave the community without answers for so long.”
