Pride and passion at Lord of the Ring 5

HUNDREDS of boxing fans turned out for what was yet another thrilling night for the fifth instalment of Lord Of The Ring in the Letterkenny on Friday night.

For the second time boxers stepped into the ring at the Mt Errigal Hotel in aid of St Eunan’s GAA and Letterkenny RFC performing in 14 very exciting bouts after over 6 weeks of training,

The whitecollar boxers showed some excellent skill in the ring with some very exciting bouts catching the attention of the audience.

In the main event two very talented athletes, Andy Doherty (St Eunan’s ) and Kevin Duran (Letterkenny RFC) faced each other. While Duran showed great strength, Doherty had the natural skill and footwork to take the win.

Another thrilling encounter was between big hitters Paul Crampsie (St Eunan’s) and Ronan O’Donnell (Letterkenny RFC) who showed that they meant business with a great staredown before the first bell.

Showing great skill, Crampsie kept on his feet picking his opponent off, while O’Donnell showed great heart keeping on his opponent and putting out some big hits.

Two other great young athletes who gave a fantastic boxing performance where Dualtach Molloy who flew in from Manchester especially for the event and Mark Gibson, representing Letterkenny RFC. Both boxers showed excellent kill, with Molloy taking the win.

As always at these events, the woman also displayed a lot of heart and skill, most notably Cathy Martin (St Eunan’s) and Colette Boyce (Letterkenny RFC) who went hell for leather and put on a fantastic performance entertaining the crowd.

The entrance of the night has to go to Elaine ‘The Burma Apache’ Gallagher who entered the ring with a Big Chief and some of her fellow Indian squaws. Elaine also went on to win her fight against Edel Bradley who put in a great effort.
Stepping into the ring for the second time, well-known businessman Leonard ‘Silver Bullett’ faced a big opponent in Niall Doherty (St Eunan’s) but showing great hunger took the win with a ‘windmill’ of hits.

Chief Organiser, Boyd Robinson commended all the boxers for their hard work and thanked all the sponsors, including main sponsors O’Gorman & Cunningham Solicitors and Voodoo Venue, for their support of the fundraising event.
