A 150-year-old church in Castlefinn is to go under the hammer in an online auction later this month.
The property, located at The Diamond in the town, is listed by Dublin-based firm BidXI with a guide price of €50,000.
Built around 1870, the former Congregational Church of Ireland property comes with its own wooden pulpit and altar area. The lattice stain glazing, typical of many religious buildings, also remains.
The auction is the latest attempt to sell the church which was listed last year with a guide price of €65,000.
Deconsecrated
Speaking to the Donegal News previously, selling agent Martin McGowan said the building had recently been deconsecrated. He said it would make an ideal home, restaurant or even a funeral parlour.
“Church conversions are common in England and if done right they can become fabulous,” Mr McGowan said.
“This particular building is protected and you have to protect its integrity and protect the fabric of the property.
“It is the unknown really in terms of what it will take to finish it out. People might look at it and wonder what it will take to complete it.”
Mr McGowan added that the church was a “blank canvas with so many unique features”.
The church will go under the hammer on September 29.
