THE fears of Donegal sheep farmers who saw a considerable drop in lamb prices in recent weeks have been allayed after prices recovered this week.
Local IFA Chairman, Mr PJ McMonagle said that prices have picked up with €5 per kilo being offered in most cases, after they fell to €4.50 per kilo last month. He urged farmers to ensure that they are getting the best prices they can.
“This time last year we were getting up to €5.35 per kilo so we are hoping to get back up to that again this year. At the moment most men are getting €5 per kilo or maybe a couple of cents more.”
