Pressure off Red Hugh’s as they head to Antrim to face Con Magee’s

SEOSAMH Mac Ceallbhuí believes the pressure is now off Red Hugh’s, and he hopes his team can go out and enjoy their Ulster Club Championship quarter-final against Con Magee’s, Glenravel (Antrim) on Sunday in Portglenone (throw-in, 2.30pm).

Red Hugh’s tasted a lot of county final heartache since their last triumph back in 1981.

They were defeated in the 2015 and 2017 Junior finals, but finally got their hands on the championship crown two weeks ago, and that has created a feel-good factor around the Cross and Killygordon.

Mac Ceallbhuí said: “The club have come over the hurdle that they were standing on for 37 years, so the mood couldn’t be any better for people associated with Aodh Rua.

“The players are training with their necks hanging out and there is a level of confidence that wasn’t there before.

“The pressure is off now. The lads will be more relaxed and now we just have to see if they can transfer that to the pitch.”
