This year’s Relay for Life presentation event will take place in the Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny, tomorrow evening, September 9.
An open invitation has been extended to team participants and survivors to come along to lend their continued support.
“Indeed, an open invitation is exactly what it says on the tin – we want as many as possible to attend,” Relay chairperson Seamus Devine appealed this week.
Those in attendance on the night will hear the final total of the money raised from the 2024 Relay for Life which was staged at the ATU campus in Letterkenny in late May.
“This year’s event was extremely successful with large numbers attending over the weekend and an increase in the teams taking part and survivors attending,” the chairperson pointed out.
A total of 37 teams participated this year, up from 29 the previous year, he revealed. “Their enthusiasm and energy contributed significantly to the success of the event.”
The Relay committee is inviting all volunteers who played their part over the weekend to come along to the presentation function.
“We greatly appreciate the time that everyone gave so generously to the event. Similarly, all those involved in the entertainment provided over the weekend – the event couldn’t have happened without you.”
Chairperson Seamus said the organisation was grateful to everyone who sponsored or donated to the teams and to Relay directly.
“Whilst the presentation night itself is primarily about wrapping up the 2024 event, it is also an opportunity for anyone to come along who wants to find out what Relay for Life is all about.”
The annual Gordy Klatt award – he was the international founder of Relay for Life – will also be presented at the event while the date for next year’s event will be disclosed in addition.
The presentation night gets underway at 7.30pm.
