Prayer service held for missing Derry pensioner

A prayer service was held in  St. Joseph’s Church, Galliagh, in Derry  yesterday evening at 5pm to bless all those taking part in the search for missing man,  John Concannon.

Parish priest, Fr Michael McCaughey, said the family are being remembered in prayer by local people. He said the aim of yesterday’s special service was to acknowledge the ongoing search for the 71-year-old father-of-two, and seek guidance that there might be a successful outcome in the search.

Mr Concannon, from Altcar Park in the city,  has been missing since November 10. Mr Concannon has dementia, cannot communicate and also has anaemia. I

It is believed he may have got on the wrong bus home on November 10 and became confused when it followed a route he didn’t recognise. He was last seen getting off the Fernabbey bus at 5.40pm and walking along the rural Lenamore Road in the direction of the border.

Hundreds of people, including rescue experts and volunteers, have been involved in ongoing searches for him along the border and across Inishowen.
