THE new Senior Managing Director and Chief Information Officer for Pramerica Systems Ireland is local man Ciaran Harvey.
The son of Clement and Bridget Harvey, Drumahoe, Ciaran (44) was educated at Scoil Colmcille, Letterkenny, St Eunan’s College and then at the Regional College (now LYIT) before going onto the University of Ulster when he obtained a BEng Honours degree in Electronic Systems and, later, an MBA in International Business from Queens University, Belfast.
Married to Debra (nee McHugh from Cullion Road), the couple have three children. Debra, a teacher at Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal, is currently on a leave of absence.
Ciaran joined Pramerica as part of the original start-up management team in 2000, when Pramerica was first established. It has grown from 35 employees to more than 1,300.
Before joining Pramerica, he was a Software Development Manager for Eircom, based in Dublin, and subsequently for International Test Technologies.
Most recently he served as overall Site Executive for Prudential El Paso’s Business and Technology Solutions Centre and the full transition to his new role will be complete by April.
In his El Paso role, Mr Harvey works with the leadership team to set and implement the business and operational strategies and practices that enable the El Paso operation to achieve the business needs and community goals set out by Prudential. This includes developing a sustainable partnership with HGS, and establishing a culture and environment in the local community, which seeks to position Prudential as an employer of choice for all of the communities that exist in El Paso but particularly for the retiring military, their families and underserved populations.
In his new role as Senior Managing Director of Pramerica, Mr Harvey will oversee the delivery of software and professional business services to Prudential’s business units and corporate centre functions. He will also continue to be the accountable executive for the Prudential El Paso Business and Technology Solutions Centre.
Prior to his role as Site Executive for Prudential El Paso, Mr. Harvey was Vice President for Operations and Systems at Pramerica Systems Ireland Limited, where he was responsible for the company’s contact centre, business processing, and information technology support functions. He also oversaw a financial, legal and compliance services department for multiple businesses and corporate groups across Prudential.
Previously, Mr Harvey was a senior software development manager in the Systems Department.
Councillor Ciaran Brogan, Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council, went to school with Mr Harvey.
“Ciaran made a huge sacrifice when he made the decision to take his wife and young family to El Paso but now he getting his just rewards. We’re all very proud of him.
“He was part of the original start-up management team in Letterkenny back in 2000 and now he has reached the top. A number of his colleagues from those days are still with the company and it just goes that with hard work, ambition and no little skill you can reach the very top,” Cllr Brogan said.
