Power outages, flooding and heavy snow across Donegal

Several homes and businesses across Donegal are without power this morning after a night of heavy rain, strong winds and snow showers.

There have been power outages right across the county and ESB crews have been working throughout the night in an attempt to restore power to homes and businesses.  In some cases, power has been restored, but many customers may be without power until later today.

Among the areas that have lost power are Carndonagh, Gaoth Dobhair, Letterkenny, the Twin Towns, Glencolmcille, Buncrana, Milford, Fanad, Ramelton, Glenties and Dungloe.

Nationally over 60,000 customers have been left without power after many parts of the country were hit by Storm Bert.

In Donegal, motorists are urged to take care on the roads today with reports of trees down on some main roads while overnight snow has also made driving conditions dangerous.

In Killybegs there has been heavy flooding along Bridge Street and many local businesses have been impacted.

A number of community events have been cancelled right around Donegal today and sporting fixtures are also likely to be impacted.

Barnesmore Gap was hit by heavy snow overnight as was Meenaroy.
