THE MAJOR power outage across north Donegal earlier today was caused by a fault at the ESB’s substation in Letterkenny.
A Spokesperson for the ESB said: “ESB Networks can confirm that up to 40,000 customers in and around the Milford area were impacted by a power outage at 12.15pm on Friday 6 September. ESB Networks crews were mobilised immediately with a majority (38,600) having their power restored by 12.40pm. The outage was caused by a fault at our 110KV substation in Letterkenny. The remaining (1,400) customers had their power restored at 1.10pm. ESB Networks would like to apologise to all customers affected by this.”
