Potato farmers facing worst conditions since ‘92

POTATO farmers across Donegal could be facing a total wipe-out of their crops if weather conditions do not improve in the coming weeks.
Heavy rains and atrocious ground conditions are severely hampering the potato harvest in Donegal, which local potato farmers say is the worst in almost 20 years.
Speaking to the Donegal News, Newtowncunningham farmer, Charlie Doherty said farmers are very worried.
“At the moment I’m stuck up to my knees in a potato field. From a harvesting point of view I’ve never seen things as bad since 1992.”
