A post mortem into the death of tragic Letterkenny girl Tory Johnston has been unable to determine how she died.
Garda Inspector Pat O’Donnell told the Donegal News this evening the results of the post mortem this afternoon were ‘undetermined’
He said they will not have to wait for the results of toxicology tests to find out how she died. Tory, from Crieve, Glebe, collapsed at a nightclub in the early hours of Wednesday morning. She died at around 7am in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The remains left Letterkenny General Hospital at 8pm on Thursday and her funeral is due to take place at 2pm on Sunday.
Speaking to the Donegal News, her uncle, Joe Dorrian, said the family were devastated by her sudden death.
“We’re all gutted, what can you say,” he said.
“Tory was such a lovely girl. She was quiet and sensible but good fun. She loved her parents, Helen and Sammy and her younger sister Amy (14),” he added.
Tory was a 5th year student at Loreto Convent in Letterkenny. Her sudden death has come a huge shock to students and staff.
Gardai have already interviewed a number of young people who were in her company at Voodoo nightclub.
“It was only her second night ever out like that,” Mr Dorrian said.
“The family had just returned from a lovely holiday in Tenerife,” he added.
The family are well known and respected in Letterkenny. Tory’s father Sammy works in a local supermarket- Lidl- while her mother, Helen has a hairdressing salon (Hue) on the Pearse Road.
“Tory would be in helping her mother in the hairdressing salon to earn a few pound during the summer,” Joe added.
Tory is also survived by her grandmother Mona Dorrian, Ard Colmcille, and grandparents James and Annie Johnston, Knocknamona Park.
