PORTSALON Pier is to reopen to the public and boat users from next Friday, Donegal County Council has confirmed to the Donegal News this week.
Work to restore and refurbish the pier began in July last year after a severe winter storm saw it fall into serious disrepair. It has not been available for use since the work began.
Funding for the pier refurbishment was granted in December 2022 under the Brexit Adjustment Local Authority Marine Infrastructure Scheme 2022-2023 with almost €1.5m allocated for the work.
A spokesperson from Donegal County Council said: “This week has seen the completion of the structural below deck element of the works so all remaining works are at deck level and therefore not reliant on weather or tidal conditions.
The site staff have indicated that the pier will be available to the public from Friday, July 5.
