RTE’S Evelyn Cusack will be in An Grianan Theatre, Letterkenny, this Wednesday evening at 7pm, to talk about the weather. And who doesn’t love to know about the weather?
Evelyn is one of the most popular people on RTE Television, her bubbly personality and her ability to communicate complex matters simply has made her a fixture of our weather reports since 1988.
This talk will take us through her history of weather and weather forecasting. She discusses our astonishingly changeable weather and will help us to gain a better insight into the natural forces at play.
Evelyn’s main role is communicating the expected weather with the Irish public which includes providing timely warnings of severe weather in order to help save lives and property both on land and at sea.
However, promoting the scientific method as applied to Meteorology is also her passion. Evelyn discusses the different climates and reveals to us how lucky we are to exist at all on this unique planet and in particular what a benign climate we have in Ireland.
One of our most knowledgeable meteorologists, she also holds a Masters Degree in Physics. Evelyn also teaches forecasting at UCD, the only Irish university offering an MSc in Meteorology. As Secretary of the Irish Meteorological Society, she also tries to foster and promote a public interest in meteorology and science – and personally invites you to join!
