FOLLOWING on from last December’s very successful Light It Up Letterkenny Tour, in which over €4,000 was raised for the Donegal Hospice, the Light it Up Christmas Run returns for 2022.
Bernard Gallagher from CBM Signs and Craig Alcorn from Tropical World will lead the Christmas Light Tour of Letterkenny this Sunday
Night, December 4, with registration opening from 5pm at CBM Signs on the Port Road.
Bernard explained, “Last year we didn’t know what to expect. We were in Covid lockdown just before Christmas with everything closed and we were looking at a dull enough build up to Christmas for everyone, both young and old.
“Craig had just bought a fully functional fire truck as an attraction for Tropical World and he suggested why do we not have a Christmas Light Run like the Christmas Tractor Runs that happen every year but with a twist for Letterkenny. Craig just wanted to get his blue light on.”
Last year’s event attracted more than 90 cars, 90 tractors, 30 lorries, vans, 12 buses and a few motorbikes which provided a great night’s entertainment.
Craig Alcorn added, “This year we are looking to do the same. A lot of people hadn’t time to get organised last year and lights fitted but we learned last year the easiest and safest way to light up your vehicle is with battery powered lights.”
The Light it Up Christmas Run will start from outside CBM signs, going up the Port Road, Main Street, out the Neil T Blaney Road, around
The Pole Star, up the Business Park Link Road to the half way halt at the Mountain Top and back down past the hospital, around the Station Roundabout and back to CBM Signs.
It is €20 to enter with all of the proceeds going to the Donegal Hospice.
