THE HSE is encouraging people who live in the Buncrana area who have concerns about Covid-19 to attend their pop-up test centre which has been extended until Sunday, September 12.
Located at Nailors Row Car Park behind Cockhill Health Centre the testing centre operates daily from 11am to 7pm. Those under 16 years of age must be accompanied.
The HSE first established the pop up centre in the first week of July owing to concerns over an increase in cases of Covid-19 recorded in Inishowen area. The HSE are encouraging people in communities throughout the north of the county to avail of this temporary facility in Buncrana. You can also register for a test if you have concerns about the virus whether or not you have symptoms.
The HSE reminds everyone at this time of “the basics” in protecting yourself and others from the spread. In particular, if you have symptoms, even if they are mild, do not attend work or social gatherings and get tested for Covid19 – see https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/covid19/preventing-the-spread/
Dr Anthony Breslin, Director of Public Health North West said; “Owing to the high positivity rate of Covid-19 in the area, we would encourage anyone who has any worries in relation to Covid-19 to come along to the testing centre and avail of the free testing. We would like as many people as possible to use this service.
“The HSE would also like to remind people that the incidences of Covid-19 are on the rise so public health practices like the wearing of face masks in public, washing your hands and not congregating in large numbers are now more important than ever. Also if you are feeling unwell, do not go to work or school and get yourself tested. “
