Poor road conditions after heavy snowfall

Donegal County Council is warning of poor road conditions around the county this morning with areas of Letterkenny badly affected due to heavy snowfall. The local authority is advising drivers to avoid the Sentry Hill, Cathedral Area, New line Road and Ard O Donnell areas of the town.

“Roads in poor conditions due to snow. Donegal County Council crews are working to improve driving conditions and clear the main artery roads through the town,” said a Council spokesperson.

A Met Éireann spokesperson said: “Staying cold until later Thursday with an Arctic airflow in across the country, bringing sharp to severe frosts and icy stretches on roads and footpaths. Some showers of hail, sleet and snow are expected with the potential for freezing fog. Further updates to the advisory and warnings are expected in the coming days.”
