Polling stations busy across Letterkenny this morning

Voters going to the polls at Ballyraine National School this morning.

 
POLLING station officials in Donegal have reported a steady stream of voters since ballot boxes opened at 7am this morning.
 
Voters across Ireland have until 10pm this evening to make their views known on the future of the eighth amendment.
 
A high turn out was predicted ahead of polling day and that is expected to be bolstered further by today’s sunny weather.
 
At Ballyraine National School this morning, electoral officials said things had been extremely busy all the morning, with people queuing to cast their votes even before the polling station opened.
 
Things were slightly quieter at Lurgybrack National School however officials there said things had been steady all morning. Again, a small number of people queued ahead of boxes opening at 7am.
 
At Conwal Church Hall a regular stream of voters could be seen entering and leaving the building.
 
Again officials reported how it had been busy all morning with a rush expected during lunchtime and again after 5pm.
 
Ballots will be cast at 247 booths in Donegal today and at 6,500 stations across the country.
 
Counting gets under way tomorrow morning in Aura Leisure Centre, Letterkenny, from 10am.
