PLANS are underway to help improve water supply issues for the residents of Bomany, Newmills, Tullgay and Conwal.
Welcoming the news, Cllr Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly confirmed that Uisce Éireann is currently undertaking a plan to help improve the service capacity in these areas.
Speaking to the Donegal News, Cllr Kelly said although this process will take time, Uisce Éireann has assured him that a vastly improved water service will be delivered to all customers in these areas.
“Work on construction of an investigative hydraulic model has now concluded and the results are being actively assessed.
“These results will inform both the extents of the problem and will also inform the optimum long term solution.
“Any improvements required will be identified and then approved for design,” he said.
With work proposed to begin next year, Cllr Kelly said this is subject to change depending on the scope of works required.
“Uisce Éireann had previously told me that these works were four or five years away from starting.
“They now hope to start the works in 2024.
“The residents in these areas have been suffering for a number of years but I want to thank them for their support and patience.
“Thankfully, there is now some light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.
