Plans in place to ensure no disruption to ambulances

THE National Ambulance Service is putting “contingency plans” in place to ensure there is no disruption to service delivery ahead of tomorrow morning’s strike. Twenty SIPTU members at the National Ambulance Service in Letterkenny will strike from 1am tomorrow morning over a dispute with management.

A Spokesperson for the HSE said: “Both parties have been in on going dialogue and discussion and also engaged under the auspices of the WRC on December 6th. Unfortunately the parties were not able to agree on a resolution mechanism to prevent industrial action going ahead which the National Ambulance Service finds regrettable.

“The National Ambulance Service management and SIPTU will continue to engage at a national and local level to find ways to address the issues.  NAS are putting contingency plans in place to ensure there is no disruption to service delivery.”

The industrial action is confined to the Letterkenny Ambulance base and the dispute relates a failure of management to implement a Rights Commissioner Recommendation involving compensatory leave following emergency call outs.
