PLANNING permission has been granted for the construction of a new filling station and shop on the site of the Creeslough explosion where 10 people lost their lives in 2022.
Donegal County Council made the decision yesterday despite dozens of objections from bereaved families criticising the plans.
The application is for the demolition of the existing building and the erection of a new building which will incorporate a class one commercial building, a shop, a post office, an off-license, a store, a deli, toilets, staff welfare facilities, a forecourt, replacement underground storage tanks and pumps, an external canopy, associated signage, and all other associated site development works including a space for a memorial garden.
