Planning permission has been granted for a new medical clinic in the centre of Letterkenny.
The new clinic will be situated at the former Cara House Family Resource Centre at 108 Lower Main Street.
Applicants Dr Muhammad Akram and Dr Arsalan Shahid plan to convert the existing commercial building into a healthcare facility accommodating up to three doctors, with patients seen by appointment.
Plans for the ground floor include a waiting area, treatment room, mini theatre, wheelchair-accessible bathroom, administration office, storage room and waiting area.
The first floor will feature a clinic room, staff kitchen, meeting room, IT and filing storage room, as well as a second waiting area and another bathroom.
The two storey building lies within the Letterkenny Town Centre Urban Core, where zoning objectives aim to sustain and strengthen the town centre as a regional hub for residential, commercial, retail, cultural and community activity, while supporting active travel and public transport.
Planning permission was granted with six conditions attached. These include restricting operating hours to between 7am and 8pm, Monday to Saturday, to protect residential amenity and support orderly development, and ensuring the rooms shown on the plans are used solely for medical purposes associated with the healthcare facility, thereby defining the permission granted.
Other conditions were imposed to prevent flooding, protect public health and ensure orderly development.
