DONEGAL is the only county in Ireland to see an increase in planning applications according to the National Housing Construction Index.
The latest edition of the National Housing Construction Index, compiled and issued by Link2Plans, illustrates the continued rise in planning applications across the county for the second consecutive year.
The National Housing Construction Index measures every submitted planning application and planning commencement across Ireland from January to February 2013. The Index gives a direct comparison with the exact same period in 2012.
One key finding in the research is that the number of project applications has risen in County Donegal by 11 per cent compared to the same period in 2012 with 16 project applications made this year.
The latest figures show a marked increase in planning applications in ten other counties with Roscommon (65%), Leitrim (67%) and Monaghan (75%) showing the biggest rise.
Despite this positive news, Donegal planning commencements have fallen by 10 per cent. Nationally planning applications are down by 3 per cent and commencement notices have fallen by 14 per cent.
