PLANNERS at Donegal County Council have sought more information from the applicant of a proposed Islamic Cultural Centre in Letterkenny.
Letterkenny Islamic Association CLG lodged plans in November 2023 for the construction of the centre in Lisennnan.
The proposed development comprises a ground and first floor mezzanine prayer hall areas for males and females, a coffee dock and sandwich bar area and a library and teaching room.
Proposed plans also include the construction of an access road, footpaths, car parking and bicycle rack, site works, landscaping and bin enclosure.
Connection to the existing public sewer is also contained in proposed plans.
In a Chief Executive Order issued in recent days, planners have requested the applicant to submit an archaeological assessment of the development site carried out by a suitably qualified archaeologist.
The applicant has also been asked to provide an independent flood risk assessment (FRA) and justification statement in accordance with the Flood Risk Management Guidelines.
The applicant must also submit a Mobility Management Plan, which sets out how the developer will ensure that the scheme will promote a more sustainable modal shift and active travel opportunities in order to support a more reduced level of car parking on the proposed site.
The applicant has been given six months to fully comply with the request.
