The proposed plans comprise the demolition of an existing two-storey section to the rear of the shop. The construction of an extension to the rear of the shop at ground floor, including new shop front and new access to shop is also contained in plans.

The planning permission also seeks the construction of an extension to rear of existing house at first, second and third floor levels including alterations and elevational changes to existing house.

All associated site works, including connection to existing public services, are also contained in the proposed plans.

However, seeking further information, planners have asked the applicant to submit further details and clarification on the extent of the work (including materials and form of signage replacement) on the front elevation of the building.

“Applicant is advised to have regard to Policy LK-TC-P-09 of The Letterkenny and Transport Plan 2023-2029 to ensure the retention of traditional shop fronts as appropriate,” the further information request states.

The applicant has also been asked to liaise with the chief fire officer in relation to fire safety issues raised, specifically means of escape from the third floor.

Donegal County Council were due to make a decision on the proposed planning application on Thursday.
