Finn Harps 2 – 0 Galway United
Mikey Place and Mark Timlin were on the mark as Finn Harps kept their play-off hopes on track with a comfortable win over Galway United in Ballybofey tonight.
Harps started the game at a fast pace and Mikey Place scored in the eighth minute.
The home side controlled the rest of the half, and Mark Timlin had a couple of chances but failed to score a second goal.
HT: Finn Harps 1-0 Galway United
Harps spurned a number of chances at the start of the second half, but Timlin did grab a second in the 66th minute.
The Ballybofey men closed the game out with minimum fuss to extend their unbeaten run in the league to eight games.
UCD’s win against Drogheda means that it is unlikely that Harps will win the league as Ollie Horgan’s men trail the students by five points with two games remaining.
However, with the Drogs losing and Shelbourne drawing, Harps are most definitely in pole position to secure second spot in the league.
