Pitches under water as rain stops play in North West

Lapping the waves: The Danny McDaid track in Letterkenny

Lapping the waves: The Danny McDaid track in Letterkenny

THE inclement weather conditions have played havoc with sporting fixtures across the North West this afternoon.

The U21 semi final meeting between St Eunan’s and Aodh Ruadh, Ballyshannon, scheduled for Castlefin was called off this morning as were the two Ulster Senior League games that had been penciled in for today – Swilly Rovers v Fanad United and Bonagee United v Letterkenny Rovers.

One game that has survived the weather is the oscar Traynor meeting between the Donegal and Inishowen Leagues (kick off 2pm) at The Moss, Drumoghill.

Yesterday’s U21 semi final clash between Kilcar and Ardara did go ahead – albeit in dreadful conditions – with the men from Towney reaching a third successive final.

Elsewhere, Bundoran are in Ulster club action in Newry this afternoon while St Eunan’s U16s bowed out of their provincial club competition in Dromore yesterday.

Meanwhile, there were wins for Glenfin and Naomh Colmcille in GAA play-off action.
