THE 52nd Lennon Festival has come to a close following a jam-packed week of events.

From the pre-festival events to the main acts, this year’s festival proved to be a resounding success.

Speaking to the Donegal News, Festival Chairman, Paul McCahill said this year’s festival was one of the best they ever had.

“Every event we held was very well supported, we were over the moon with the crowds we got.

“At our crab fishing event we usually make 70 fishing rods, but this year we had to make 200.

“At our fun run last Wednesday night we had at least 500 kids taking part,” he said.

The festival was officially opened last Thursday by the Queen of Country, Margo O’Donnell.

On Friday night, Sharon Shannon and her band brought something different to the festival which was enjoyed by all traditional music lovers.

On Saturday night, thousands were transported back to the 80’s as ABBA Sensations took to the stage.

With the tribute act being enjoyed by young and old, Gamble Square came together to belt out a few of ABBA’s greatest hits.

On Sunday night, crowds jived the night away to Jimmy Buckley.

Taking to their Facebook page the committee also gave a special shout out to the talented support acts Lizzy Haughey, Jason McCahill and Lauren Friel Gormley who performed throughout the festival.

Gratitude was also expressed to the hard working committee members who poured their hearts and souls into organising the fantastic events.

Lastly, but certainly not least, the committee wished to say a huge thank you to each and every person who attended, supported and contributed to the festival.

“Your enthusiasm and presence made it an unforgettable experience for all,” a spokesperson said.

With the committee taking a well-deserved week off to re-charge, Paul said they’re already planning to meet next week to discuss next year’s festival.

“The ball is rolling already, it never stops,” he said.
