Penneys rally around colleague diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease

By Dionne Meehan

THE STAFF in Penneys Letterkenny are preparing to strut their stuff on the catwalk in a bid to raise funds for their colleague Olivia Robb who was recently diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

Working in Penneys for almost 30 years, Olivia is a well-known face in the store and is adored by those around her.

Described as being a “bubbly” and “caring” person by her managers, her colleagues made it their mission to give something back to her and her family.

Originally from Sligo, Olivia’s diagnosis has led to significant and immediate challenges for her family, emotionally, practically and financially.

Hoping to help ease the financial burden, the staff in Penneys organised a number of fundraisers.

From in-store raffles to reunions, without a doubt the most anticipated fundraiser to date is their upcoming in-store Fashion Show which will take place on Tuesday, March 12.

With 300 tickets being snatched up in the space of three days, Retail Manager, Maura Doherty has described the response as being “overwhelming”.

But what can be expected on the night?

With promises of some “well-known” faces modelling, crowds will see a host of Donegal influencers take to the catwalk in support of the fundraiser.

But that’s not all, with over 40 models including 18 members of the Robb family, a wide range of fashion will be showcased.

Music on the night will be provided by DJ Marty Friel while Sarah Terry (Made up Mummy) will MC.

And if something tickles your fancy there will even be time to shop afterwards.

With tickets for the event now sold out, all funds raised will go directly to support Olivia.

“We are all working together and doing the best we can to support Olivia, she deserves it all,” Maura concluded.
