Pedestrian who died in Letterkenny collision is named

A PEDESTRIAN who died in a collision this morning on the Ramelton Road outside Letterkenny has been named as Ciarán McArt, 2 The Glebe, Letterkenny.

Aged in his 30’s, Mr McArt died after a road collision involving a lorry at Magherennan, Letterkenny. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The lorry driver was uninjured.

The road, which had been closed for a number of hours today for technical examination, has since re-opened.

Mr Mc Art’s funeral Mass will take place on Sunday in St Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny  at 1.30pm followed by burial in Conwal Cemetery.

He was the much loved son of Adrian and Karen Mc Art, brother of Ultan and sister Fionnuala.

Meanwhile, Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R245 at Magherennan early this morning are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
