Pearson signs pro deal with Coleraine

COLERAINE FC have announced that Harry Pearson has put pen-to-paper on his first professional forms at the club…

The goalkeeper was promoted to the first-team at the start of the 2024-25 campaign and made his senior debut in the North-West Senior Cup final win over Ballinamallard United back in January.

The St Johnston native regularly trains with the first-team squad and is involved in match day duties for both home and away games to aid his development.

Harry is also enrolled on the full-time education programme based at The Showgrounds, which combines specialist football coaching/training along with expert first class education.

Speaking about the welcome news, head coach Dean Shiels said: “Harry has been performing to a high level within 20s games and the first-team training sessions all season.

“His attitude and commitment has been outstanding since he joined the club and we are looking forward to developing Harry in the future towards establishing himself as a first-team player.”

Goalkeeping coach Michael Doherty added: “Since Harry first came through the door he has grown in confidence not just as a goalkeeper but as a person.

“Harry to me is a very important part of the squad as he travels the country with the first-team, offering cover for Rory Brown and Max Little on match days in case of injury.

“Harry also has to commute from Raphoe for training and games, so if Harry plays away for the U20s on a Monday night, he may not be home until the small hours and then he’s back through the door on Tuesday morning to train.

“Harry has all the attributes to succeed in the game and his professionalism and attitude to working and learning is next to none.

“Harry fully deserves his reward of his first pro deal and he made it happen himself and is a just reward for his development.”
