PCC, Falcarragh celebrate their Under-16 Championship win – they chase an Arthur’s Cup final win on Wednesday.

PCC Falcarragh are aiming to write a piece of history on Wednesday as they bid to become the first school from Donegal to win an Ulster Under-16 Arthur’s Cup when they take on St Mark’s, Warrenpoint at Healy Park, Omagh (throw-in 12 noon).
Stephen Doohan’s side has reached the provincial final in impressive fashion in year when they lifted their first Donegal Under-16 Schools title since 2005/06.
Doohan hopes to have a full-strength to select from. Chris Cannon and Michael Fitzgerald have been hampered by knocks, but will be ok to line out.
“We’re really looking forward to the game, no Donegal team has ever won this so it’s a big chance for us to do something special,” Doohan told the Donegal News.
“At the start of the year, when we met for the first training session, I knew that we had a team capable of winning a county title, so that was our first aim.
“Winning Donegal was a massive thing for us. There were a lot of good teams in Donegal, so it was great to win that.
“When we went out of the county we didn’t know what to expect. I just hope we can perform in the final and do ourselves justice.
“We have been doing a lot of work with the boys, so hopefully we can take all the hard work out and empty the tank on Wednesday.”
They won the Donegal title thanks to a facile win over St Columba’s, Stranorlar, when goals by Jason McGee, the team captain, and Michael Langan secured a 2-8 to 0-2 win in Convoy.
Against St Joseph’s, Enniskillen, the Falcarragh boys won 6-11 to 1-4, with St Michael’s ace Langan bagging 3-5. Langan is easily the team’s chief marksman, but they’re far from a one-man band. Ciaran McGinley at half-forward is another who gives them a fine platform in attack, while McGee is a star at centre-field, who has been on trial lately at Nottingham Forest.
Micheál Mulhern, Dylan Doherty and Shane Langan have also contributed well.
Things didn’t look good at half-time in the semi-final when they trailed St Patricks and St Brigid’s of Claudy 1-5 to 0-3 at the break. However, they got the bit between their teeth and with Langan contributing 1-8 they managed to get the win.
Doohan said: “The boys are well tuned in. We went to see St Mark’s, too, and they were impressive in their win over Bailieborough, scoring four goals.
“We have been good for goals all the way, but we have leaked goals too and we will need to tighten up there too.
