Drumkeen teenager Sean Patton scored for the Republic of Ireland Under 19 team as they defeated Slovakia 3-1 in a friendly today.
Ireland were looking to bounce back following a 1-0 defeat to the same opponents three days ago and when Slovakia went a goal ahead early on this morning there were concerns it could be a similar outcome.
Killian Cailloce and Franco Umeh hit back with goals for Ireland, who ae managed by former Finn Harps star Tom Mohan.
Derry City striker Patton scored the third goal for Ireland and he played the full game for his team.
Elsewhere Inishowen youngsters Oisin Cooney and Luke O’Donnell both played for the Republic of Ireland Under 17 team today.
However, they suffered their third defeat of the Elite Round qualifiers going down 5-0 to Croatia this afternoon.
