Derry took an early lead when Will Patching netted a penalty after Ethan Boyle was adjudged to have fouled David Parkhouse.

Harps got back on level terms in the 16th minute when Boyle headed home from close range.

The home side were threatening after that but it was Derry who regained the lead in the 44th minute when Patching scored a brilliant free-kick.

Tunde Owolabi and Adam Foley both went close to scoring at the start of the second half, but Derry survived.

Both sides had chances to score after that and Derry struggled to deal with set-pieces as the second half progressed.
