Katie-George Dunlevy and her pilot Linda Kelly have this afternoon scooped silver for Team Ireland in the women’s B road race at Clichy-sous-Bois in Paris.
It was a trojan effort and is an outstanding achievement for the Irish team who led almost all the way in the 99.4km race but were heartbreakingly overtaken by Team GB in just the last 400 metres.
Dunlevy and Kelly finished with a time of 2:37.29 while Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl from the British team finished three seconds faster at 2:37.26.
It’s Dunlevy’s third medal in these Paralympics having won gold with Kelly in the women’s B individual time on Wednesday and silver in the velodrome event last Sunday with Eve McCrystal.
Also competing in the event for Team Ireland was Josephine Healion and McCrystal who had been in the mix for third early on before falling back, ultimately finishing fourth in a time of 2:42.05.
It brings to six Team Ireland’s medal count so far.
