Glenties man Paddy found himself in the bottom four after the quarter final last week. On Sunday night he took on Irish favourites Kodaline’s One Day.
Jamelia said she didn’t believe Paddy was the strongest vocalist in the competition. “But you are a great performer, I do like you.”

Bressie said he thought Paddy could have a future, ‘but I don’t think your voice will jump out of the radio’. Dolores agreed with the other, but said Paddy’s performance ‘was better than last week’. “Those open chords were nicer,” she said.

Team mentor Kian Egan noted that the other judges had made fair points. “I think you have what’s it takes. You don’t have to be the best singer in the world to sell records.”

Last season Downings singer Shane McLaughlin made it all the way to the final, surprising many of his doubters along the way. If you would like to see Paddy Molloy in this year’s final, tune in and vote this Sunday at 6.30pm on RTÉ One.

If you want to be part of the live show you can still buy tickets direct from The Helix on 01 7007000 or www.thehelix.ie. Tickets cost €25 and €80 for a family ticket.
April 20: Semi Finals six acts perform, two go home; April 27: Grand Final four acts perform. The Winner of the Voice of Ireland will be crowned.
