FORMER captain Packie Mailey has re-signed for Finn Harps.
The 25-year old Convoy native played 82 times for Harps in three seasons at the club, 2009, 2010 and 2011.
Mailey was appointed captain by James Gallagher for the 2010 season. He was Harps Player of the Year in 2009 and 2010.
Mailey spent some time in Scotland with Hibernians, who he joined from Irish League side Insitute in 2005. He had a spell on loan with Stenhousemuir, but never made a first team appearance while at Easter Road.
Prior to the start of the 2012 season, Mailey was courted by Derry City and had looked set to make a move to the Brandywell, before talks broke down.
He had become unsettled at Finn Park and break down in a relationship with the management meant that he wouldn’t make a return. Last summer, Peter Hutton had hinted of a possible return for the centre-back, but nothing materialised at the time.
Now, though, Mailey is back at Finn Park, having been snapped up by the new manager Ollie Horgan.
“As a life long Harps fan it’s great to be back at the club again,” Mailey said.
“Ollie has laid out his plans for what he wants and I’m delighted that he has asked me to be a part of those plans. I can’t wait now for the hard work of pre-season training to begin in January ahead of the new season.”
