THE Donegal News has learned that twenty two County Councillors have so far been paid almost €45,000 for attending conferences up and down the country last year.
In one weekend alone, it cost the council €8,808 to pay for 11 public representatives to attend a two-day Local Authority Members Association (LAMA) conference in Dungarvan, County Waterford in September.
When the figure is broken down, it shows the councillors were paid an average of €550 each, or €5,462 in total, in travel expenses for attending that conference.
