Over 800 housing units granted planning permission

New figures have revealed that 804 housing units were granted planning permission in Donegal last year.

Figures published today by the CSO detail that during 2022, 804 planning permissions were approved – 731 houses and 74 apartments.

In the last quarter of 2022, 146 new dwellings were granted planning permission, 135 houses and 11 apartments were approved.

Also in the final quarter, 90 other new construction projects were approved while 82 extensions and 28 conversions granted planning permission.

Nationally, the number of dwelling units granted planning permission in Quarter 4 (Q4) 2022 was 7,597, of which 3,839 were houses and 3,758 were apartments.

When compared with Q4 2021, there has been a decrease of 28.1% in the number of house units granted planning permission in Q4 2022, compared with a decrease of 53.6% in the number of apartment units granted planning permission during the same period.
