Over 40,000 ESB customers without power in Donegal

ESB crews are this morning working to repair faults all over Donegal where over 40,000 customers remain without power this Monday morning.

Nationally, there are over 235,000 homes and businesses without power.

Power outages were reported in west Donegal shortly after tea-time on Sunday as the storms began to hit the county.

The county felt the full force of Storm Isha at around 9pm on Sunday and there were power cuts all over the county.

Homes and businesses were left without power overnight and those power outages are likely to continue for much of today.

Many roads were blocked or partially blocked in different parts of Donegal due to fallen trees and power lines.

Schools remain closed in many parts of the county and ESB crews and staff from Donegal County Council are out in force this morning as the clean-up operation continues.

Donegal County Council have this morning issued an updated Yellow wind warning for Donegal which is valid from 12 noon on Tuesday to 5am on Wednesday.

The phone lines were down for a while this morning at Milford Garda Station, but that problem has since been resolved.
