According to ESB’s PowerCheck website, power is expected to be restored to affected homes and businesses between 2 pm and 6 pm today, Monday, August 12.
Throughout the night, over 1,100 homes experienced power outages, coinciding with a Status Orange rain and wind warning that was in effect from midnight until 4 am.
Killybegs and Milford were among the hardest-hit areas, with more than 200 homes and businesses in the Ballyraine area of Letterkenny also affected. Fortunately, power has been restored to the vast majority of those impacted.
Apart from a few fallen trees, no major incidents have been reported. However, the Gardaí are advising motorists to exercise caution as debris may be present on the roads.
Conditions have improved this morning, and Met Éireann predicts a largely dry day with sunny spells.
Temperatures are expected to range between 17 to 23 degrees, with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds in the morning, which will ease as the day progresses.
Cloudy skies with patchy rain and drizzle are expected in the west and southwest early tonight, becoming more widespread overnight.
Some mist may also form, with the lowest temperatures ranging from 12 to 16 degrees, accompanied by moderate to fresh and gusty southerly winds.
While some showers may occur, the weather is expected to become more settled and dry as we approach the weekend.
