OUTSTANDING overtime arrears owed to Letterkenny University Hospital staff will be paid out next week, the HSE has said.
The response, issued to this newspaper, came following a query we lodged on foot of concerns that some employees had not been paid on time over the Christmas period.
In a statement to the Donegal News, a HSE spokesperson said staff received their basic pay as scheduled over Christmas, and that they were not aware of any issues relating to basic pay not being paid on time.

“As is customary during the Christmas period each year, there can be delays in the payment of overtime where the work is undertaken after the payroll submission cut-off dates for the Christmas pay periods. In such cases, affected staff receive these payments at a later date, consistent with standard practice each year. Any outstanding overtime arrears will be paid on 15 January 2026,” the statement added.
The HSE pointed out that LUH does not outsource any aspect of salary payments.
