THE wait is finally over for fans of country music, as TG4’s beloved concert series, Opry le Daniel, returns to our screens tonight.
Presented by none other than Donegal’s very own Daniel O’Donnell, this year’s series, Opry le Daniel ar Thuras, promises to be bigger and better, celebrating the best of Irish and international country music.
Recorded at the INEC in Killarney, the show has long been a staple for country music lovers, and with Daniel at the helm, it’s easy to see why.
Over the years, the show has hosted legendary figures like Charley Pride, Crystal Gayle, and Rita Coolidge.
Not to mention the cream of Irish talent, including Margo, Mike Denver, Louise Morrissey, and Roly Daniels. The show has also paid tribute to Irish country royalty, Big Tom and Philomena Begley.
This year’s series kicks off with a bang, with Daniel welcoming Irish favourites Jimmy Buckley and Mike Denver to the stage.
But that’s not all, the opening show will feature the iconic Barbara Fairchild, who’ll be flying in from Branson, Missouri to serenade the audience with her beloved hit, “The Teddy Bear Song.”
The excitement doesn’t stop there. As the series continues, viewers can look forward to performances from both established stars and fresh new faces.
In the coming weeks, the Opry stage will light up with appearances from Eurovision winner Dana, renowned singer Frances Black, and a line-up of emerging talent including Gavin Gribben, Chrissy Mac, Lauren McCrory, and Meadhbh Walsh.
Group sensation Onóir is also set to make their debut, offering a mix of traditional and contemporary sounds.
As with previous seasons, the show is recorded live in front of a studio audience, bringing a dynamic atmosphere that translates directly to the screen.
Each episode offers a unique theme, with Daniel joined by special guests to perform beloved hits that will have viewers singing along from home.
If you’re a country music fan, or simply looking for a great night of entertainment, make sure to tune in to TG4 on Tuesday, October 1 at 9:30 pm for the 2024 series of Opry le Daniel ar Thuras.
