Naomh Conaill 0-8 Gaoth Dobhair 0-7

John O’Malley kicked the winning point as Naomh Conaill defeated Gaoth Dobhair at the third time of asking tonight in Mac Cumhaill Park.

Naomh Conaill started the better and led by 0-3 to 0-1 after 14 minutes.

Martin Regan’s team were playing the better football and still led by three with five minutes remaining in the first half.

However, Cian Mulligan and Michael Carroll landed points late in the half and Gaoth Dobhair trailed by one at the break.

Tempers flared coming off the pitch at half-time, and before the play restarted Gaoth Dobhair’s Eamon McGee was sent off after a incident with Naomh Conaill sub Eoin Waide.

Naomh Conaill pushed three ahead after scores from Jeaic Mac Ceallbhuí and Ciaran Thompson.

The excellent Michael Carroll reduced Gaoth Dobhair’s deficit back to two, and then Odhrán Mac Niallais landed a beauty.

Gaoth Dobhair levelled matters in the 59th minute when Eamon Collum notched a free, but John O’Malley nudged Naomh Conaill in front again seconds later.

That proved to be the winning score, and there were great scenes at the full-time whistle.
