CHLOE Magee is at it again.
The Raphoe woman has scored a straight sets win over Egyptian Hadia Hosny in her opening match of the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Magee is in with a chance of making the last 16, but must first see off the tough challenge of former world number 3 Pi Hongyan on Tuesday.
The 23-year old has comfortably seen off Hosny 21-17, 21-6 to catapult herself right into the frame for qualification.
This was a comfortable win in the end. Magee took the first set 21-17, but not before a period of nervousness. Magee was pushed all the way by Hosny, with both players making a lot of unforced errors in the first set.
Magee trailed 4-1 at one early juncture, but batted back to level. The players were neck-and-neck most of the way through the error-filled first set, with a superb defence keeping Magee ahead by three for a bit.
A lovely drop shot edged Magee 16-13 ahead and although initially not allowed pull too far away by the Egyptian, Magee eventually found the mojo and took the first set 21-17 – her now trademark ‘Come on!’ cry filling the compact 6,000 capacity arena.
The nerves were quashed by confidence at the start of the second set as Magee powered into a 7-1 lead – and she never looked back.
Irish eyes were smiling as Magee’s patient rallies eventually sucked the hopes from Hosny and Magee – coached by her brother Daniel who was courtside – powered to glory taking a 21-6 win in that second set.
